Senior Programme Manager - Retail Banking

A leading Retail Bank are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to join their team. The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the Change Delivery Directors in demand management, Project delivery across the portfolio and risk management. In this role you will work closely with senior business stakeholders and IT colleagues to forecast demand for business driven IT change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to the Change Delivery Directors in demand management, Project delivery across the portfolio, risk management and the interdependencies between these elements
  • Liaising with Business Units to understand the business strategy and roadmap
  • Lead in educating the Business in the correct processes, method and templates in order that demand can be submitted to TIP for approval (via GPO) in an efficient way
  • Inject fresh ideas and bring thought leadership
  • Engage with the Group Portfolio office as required
  • Build and maintain close relationships with the Business units and IT
  • Proactively engaging during the ideation/concept phase to understand what the Business is seeking to achieve, and to help them shape, develop and qualify the ideas and concepts further
  • Ensure that the outline business case clearly specifies the quantitative and qualitative benefits are that these benefits and lodged in the benefits registry maintained and managed by the Delivery PMO
  • Provide appropriate levels of challenge to the Business area as to the rationale for wanting to promote an idea for a change project into the portfolio
  • Regularly review and assess the demand portfolio to ensure it reflects the business environment and is correctly prioritised to meet business requirements
  • Solicit, capture and prioritise change demand
  • Liaise with relevant areas in Change and IT to gain the required inputs and access the required resources (Enterprise architects, BAs, Solution architects, testing and so on) to enable ideas/concepts to be further developed
  • Ensure the process of getting from idea to approved demand is efficient in order to minimise pre-gate spend
  • Support the mobilisation of the programme of work under the portfolio and providing support thereafter through collaboration between the business and the project
  • Supporting the portfolio of projects throughout their lifecycle ensuring that the business remains informed at all times

Key Skills & Capabilities:

  • Extensive relationship management experience and the ability to create and maintain a strong internal network across levels and disciplines
  • Broad experience of change delivery and project management
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to build effective relationships with a range of senior stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation
  • Able to contribute to strategic debate, anticipating and proposing future changes that may be required
  • Experience gained in previous roles of providing effective demand management and support for management of a portfolio of projects
  • Ability to influence colleagues and senior stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge of Banking/financial services
  • Understand the trends, risks and opportunities in the market place
  • Understanding and awareness of the technology landscape that support business area
  • Subject matter expert on the demand planning process and systems to ensure consistency of interaction in the process and development of the change function (people, process, and systems/tools)
