As Senior Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the designing, developing and verifying of complex and sophisticated electro-mechanical Medical Device equipment.

The Senior Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer will be an integral part of one of the worlds' most globally recognised Medical Device companies. Reporting into the Engineering Manager, as Senior Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer you will gain exceptional experience within a globally recognised organisation who promotes in-house advancement due to their supportive structure.

Our client is a global medical technology company focused designing and developing cutting edge Electro-Mechanical Medical Device equipment whist a constant focus across the NPI and NPD of new products being released onto the market. Some responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Development of medical devices from concept to commercialisation. This includes the designing, developing, refining and evaluating mechanical components, assemblies or subsystems for mechanical and/or electro-mechanical medical devices equipment
  • Produce rapid prototyping techniques to reduce product time to market whilst adhering to project deadlines and product costs
  • Planning and executing successful product development projects, occasionally leading and training team members on technical aspects of product commercialisation
  • Liaise with internal and external design functions to create next generation and innovative solutions to healthcare problems and mechanical/electrical design challenges
  • Determine and implement design approaches and conduct feasibility studies on new and existing designs
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements
  • Independently determines and develops approach to resolving end customers product related issues, through problem solving and troubleshooting product design, and product training
  • Interacting with other departments to ensure relevant points are captured and knowledge is shared.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' industrial experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment and a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering, ideally within Mechanical, Biomedical or Mechatronic Engineering. Previous Electro-Mechanical experience is essential whilst also having a sound knowledge of CAM/CAE computer systems, engineering materials and design, coating technologies, plastic part design and manufacturing technologies. The successful candidate will also need to be fluent in 3D CAD (Solidworks) with good working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis tools.

You will have the ability to witness your designs being manufactured so previous experience in a design to manufacture facility is essential. Experience of the Medical Device Industry or other highly regulated industry is required with an in depth understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA quality system requirements

Finally, the successful candidate will also need to have strong communication skills with the ability of providing feedback on Design and Product improvements to a cross functional team.
