Senior R&D Engineer (Optical Engineering) - North Dublin

Are you degree qualified in Optical or Mechanical Engineering with extensive experience across the designing and development of optical systems? I'm currently working exclusively with an extremely reputable organisation who are currently in the process of setting up operations within Dublin. Working closely with the Engineering Manager and liaising heavily with the Directors within the business, as Senior R&D Engineer you will be heavily involved in the designing, development and manufacturing cutting edge technology that is used in a variety of industries from Medical Device to the Automotive and Aerospace industries. The role is an extremely interesting position where no two days will be the same. Outside of working on bespoke and cutting-edge technology, the successful candidate will move into a role where no barriers are placed on professional progression where micro-management is non-existent.

ABOUT THE POSITION

  • Designing of optical systems which are placed within company products
  • Assist in the designing of mechanical fixtures or mounts for optical components
  • Designing and development of testing systems to analyse systems performance, quality and life span
  • Develop and improve LED module design with optical and thermal management including simulation and analysis
  • Research and investigate new technologies across electronics, LED and UV systems
  • Conduct design analysis with the onus on process and product improvements
  • Ensure safe operation of optical system regarding procedures and work manuals
  • Manage individual projects in compiling schedules, prioritising tasks, and strive to achieve project goals and deadlines
  • Interacting with other departments as part of the design process to ensure relevant points are captured and knowledge is shared

ABOUT THE PERSON

  • Degree qualified (ideally to a Masters' qualification) within Optical or Mechanical Engineer. Similar qualifications will also be considered including areas such as Physics
  • of 5+ years' experience within Design and Product Development focused across Optics, LED or UV systems
  • Experience and familiarity across the following software: Tracepro, Solidworks, Matlab, Minitab, Autocad
  • Track record in designing and developing optical test systems
  • Highly motivated, strong vendor management experience and looking to move into an autonomous position with no micro-management
