An immediate requirement for a Data Analyst to join the National Broadband Ireland analytics team

Overview

National Broadband Ireland (NBI) will be the designer, builder and operator of the ultrafast broadband network for rural Ireland. It was established by Granahan McCourt (GMC), an international investor in technology, media and telecommunications with 30 years of experience partnering with governments, corporations and people to drive development of communications infrastructure.

NBI has presented its vision for world-class, gigabit-speed broadband for every home, farm, school and business in areas of the country which are not fully served by commercial operators (the "Intervention Area"). National Broadband Ireland will supply broadband to the one quarter of Irish people and premises which currently cannot access high-speed broadband through commercial services. It guarantees a level playing field for 1.1 million people, 540,000 premises including 100,000 businesses and farms, and over 600 schools.

Key Responsibilities

We have an immediate requirement for a Data Analyst to join the National Broadband Ireland analytics team. Candidates will work in our expanding team, focused on historical trend analysis to support both strategic and operational decision making across relevant stakeholders to define our core analytic engine. This will support future extrapolations and forecasts for trends, resourcing and SLA adherence.

We are looking for candidates that have firm understanding of statistics and databases. Enabling the effective analyse and mash-up of diverse amounts of data to mine useful business insights as we transform Ireland broadband network.

  • Design and develop core business metrics, create insightful automated dashboards and data visualizations to track them and extract useful business insights;
  • Work with different business and technical teams across the company to establish unified definitions, systems, and data governance for key metrics
  • Derive, interpret and effectively deliver the results of data analysis using visualization techniques, tools, custom applications, or by narrating stories about the solutions to business problems
  • Understand traditional and new data analysis methods that can build statistical models and discover patterns in data
  • Explore data, ask the right questions, and provide compelling findings
  • Utilize a broad range of techniques in machine learning, data mining, statistics, and big data interrogation methods

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Expert problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure data providing - AWS deployment
  • Customer requirements gathering and KPI reporting / presentation of data science project outputs.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Direct experience with the entire data science project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, evaluation and presentation of results.
  • Interpersonal skills, not only to work with colleagues but also to build and maintain a relationship with stakeholders.
  • Experience programming in SQL and two other language of analytics
  • Excellent ambassador for NBI, promoting the organisation and role modelling NBI's values
