Reporting to the Head of Engineering, as Mechanical Design Team Lead you will gain exceptional experience within a globally recognised organisation who promotes in-house advancement due to their supportive structure.

About The Position

Fantastic opportunity for individuals with prior people management or leadership experience to move into a new and challenging opportunity and not only develop their own abilities but also that of the Mechanical Design Engineers that will report into this position. As Mechanical Design Team Lead you will be tasked with providing leadership and direction to ensure projects are completed, deadlines are met and expectations are exceeded.

Some responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Lead a team of Mechanical Design Engineers in the delivery a number of design projects from idea generation through to manufacturing including pre-design and post-design checking and review
  • Ensure productivity targets are delivered, through the generation of key performance indicators. Conduct regular performance review meetings with the Mechanical Design Team to track progress against a defined set of performance KPIs
  • Develop and mentor the team to ensure full potential of Engineers is achieved
  • Complete technical reviews of completed projects whilst always looking for improvements that can be made
  • Liaise with on-site and off-site Sales Team to ensure information gather is correct in order to achieve right-first-time design work.
  • Work closely with the R&D Team Lead with regards to product improvements and introduction of new projects
  • Provide insights to adjust or recommend enhancements to systems and processes to solve problems
  • Participate with Stakeholder meetings, providing updates on team projects
  • Interacting with other departments to ensure relevant points are captured and knowledge is shared.

About The Person

This position requires a minimum of a 3rd level qualification, ideally within the area of Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering coupled with at least 3 years' experience in leading a team of engineers who focus producing complex Mechanical Designs.

The ideal candidate will also need prior knowledge and exposure to managing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast paced environment whilst also having a keen focus on delivering quality to customers. Prior experience within utilising Solidworks is advantageous but similar software packages will also be considered.

The successful candidate will also need extensive People Management skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team of Mechanical Design to reach their full potential.

Finally, the ideal candidate will need to have excellent communication skills (capable of dealing with stakeholders from all levels of the organisation), exceptional planning and prioritising skills and great attention to detail to ensure all projects and designs are completed to company's standards.
