Reporting to: CFO of KBC Asset Management Group (Belgium) and Designated Finance Officer of KBC FM (Dublin)
Introduction
KBC Asset Management Group ('KBC AM') is the KBC Group asset manager and market leader in Belgium. We are an international organisation active in Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria.
We serve retail clients through our intra-group distributors, and larger private and institutional customers who entrust management of their investment portfolio directly to KBC AM. KBC AM operates in a number of countries via a branch network.
KBC FM is an Irish subsidiary of KBC AM, its competence centre specialising in the management of fund-of-funds, capital protected funds and open theme equity funds. Next to portfolio management activities, support and controlling functions, such as Finance, Risk, Compliance and Legal are performed locally. The company currently has 29 employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance is a group function within KBC AM and, as such, steering is provided by the Chief Finance Officer of KBC AM, with close cooperation and support being provided by Finance colleagues across KBC AM and within the Finance Department locally (three employees).
Limited European travel is required. The vacancy at KBC FM is suited to a highly-motivated candidate who works well in a team environment, but also on his/her own initiative. You will require experience and competence in the areas of general ledger management, group reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and the performance of cost monitoring and internal controls.
Tasks will be predominantly related to KBC FM, KBC AM NV Irish Branch (for which KBC FM performs accounting) and a number of funds managed by KBC FM.
Essential Duties
General Ledger and Reporting
- General ledger management, with responsibility for posting entries;
- Monthly closing of general ledger and group reporting within set timeframes;
- Preparing annual financial statements;
- Acting as the main point of contact in dealing with external auditors; and
- Performing general ledger reconciliations and ensuring accuracy of entries.
Accounts Payable/Receivable and Banking
- Performing control checks over incoming invoices and expense claims;
- Organising management review and payment of incoming invoices;
- Monitoring bank balances and ensuring incoming invoices are paid in good time;
- Raising customer invoices in a timely manner; and
- Performing reconciliations and other control checks.
Tax
- Ensuring correct treatment of invoices, liaising with tax advisors where necessary;
- Preparing VAT3, ARTD and recovery workings; and
- Preparing draft corporation tax computations; Form 46G.
Analytical Analysis, Projects
- Preparing reporting documents for Management Committee and Board, with analytical comments; and
- Assisting with or leading projects for local and group initiatives, working with colleagues, often cross-border.
Education/Experience
- Part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA);
- Experience working with general ledger packages;
- Good working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
