Junior Mechanical Design Engineer - North-West Cork

Due to the continued growth and success of a client of mine based in North West Cork, I'm looking to speak to all Graduate or Junior Mechanical Design Engineers looking to move into a new and diverse position. This role would suit an individual who's looking to continue gaining experience a multitude of different areas from Mechanical Design to New Product Development/Introduction.

About The Position

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, as a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible within the design and developing new and existing products within the area of Heavy Industrial Engineering.

Some responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring all work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner
  • Liaise with clients, acting as the first point of contact regarding individual projects. Overseeing projects from initial concept, detailed design, assembly and testing keeping them on schedule and within budget
  • Delivery of RFT designs, utilising Autodesk Inventor to develop 2D and 3D drawings
  • Liaise with purchasing department regarding the procurement of material and components
  • Interacting with other departments as part of the design process to ensure relevant points are captured and knowledge is shared

About The Person

For this position, my client would require a 3rd level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or similar related discipline. Autodesk Inventor is the software of choice within the clients operations, experience with Autodesk Inventor is benefical but not essential. Experience across similar packages such as Solidworks, Creo etc… will also be acceptable. Previous experience or knowledge of Sheet Metal design is highly beneficial for this position.

It is also imperative that you have strong interpersonal skills with excellent attention to detail in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will also need to have an an enquiring mind with an analytical approach to problem solving and an ability to visualise simple solutions for complex problems.

A desire to move into a role where you will be managing projects from start to finish is extremely advantageous. Finally, the successful candidate will also need to be positive, driven and be able to work with minimum supervision.
