Morgan McKinley are representing a North American headquartered airline, to recruit a Tax Manager for their Dublin office.

Our client is undergoing a rapid global expansion plan, involving an intensive fleet transition plan, expansion into new markets and a major airline acquisition which has generated an increased demand for international tax advice.

This position will report directly to the International Tax Director in Dublin and be involved with managing international income and transactional tax risks in relation to aircraft and engine transactions (including sales, purchases, leases, novation's, extensions and redeliveries) and other ad-hoc international tax projects (including mergers and acquisitions).

The role will work closely with the company's international legal, finance, treasury, aircraft programs and maintenance teams (some international travel will be involved).

This position and accompanying responsibilities can be adapted to a newly qualified tax professional (NQ - 1 PQE) with a desire to move into a tax manager role OR an experienced Tax Manager (2 - 3 PQE).

Aviation tax experience is preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing term sheets and agreements relating to aircraft and engines including purchase, sale, lease, sub-lease, lease extension, novation, financings and re-financings.
  • Undertaking research on the company's tax risks in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Assessing the tax implications of proposed transactions and proposing solutions to minimize tax implications.
  • Assisting with other ad-hoc international tax issues.

Ideal Background

  • Big 4/Top 10 trained.
  • CTA/AITI Qualified (finalist may be considered dependant on experience).
  • Experience/Knowledge of aircraft and/or aviation industry is preferable but not essential but
  • strong international tax experience
  • Strong analytical skills combined with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • To succeed in this role, the incumbent should be curious, flexible, perseverant and capable of handling situations within tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must have the right to work in Ireland without restriction.
