My Advice

Keep an open mind, build good quality relationships and build your network in all walks of life. Take a holistic approach to your career – it’s not just about your technical abilities; it’s also about emotional intelligence and your ability to get along with people and build your career through people, whether that is through a career consultant, your manager, co-workers or a client you are auditing. Be aware!

My Background

I completed a degree in history and politics and went on to work for Standard Life Investments.

I worked closely with fund managers in advising pension fund clients of their investment options and returns, liaising mostly with HR professionals who happened to be pension fund trustees. During the start of the Celtic Tiger era, I saw an opportunity to utilise my client servicing abilities and knowledge of the financial services sector and contacts in HR to move to career consulting.
