The stability and talent on offer in Ireland gave specialist security company Tyco the opportunity to do something transformative in moving their global headquarters to Cork city centre, where further jobs could be added in the future.
On Friday 21st November 2014, Tyco celebrated the ground breaking of it’s new premises on One Albert Quay, Cork.
This will be the centre of Tyco’s Global Headquarters, and also the Global Business Services Centre, bringing more than 600 job opportunities to Cork.
The location of the Global Service Centre in Cork provides Tyco with the opportunity to improve its efficiency of processes in the various functions.
The opportunities will be in a number of functions including; IT, R&D, Sourcing and Procurement, Finance, Project Management, HR and more over the next three years and are ranging from Director to Graduate levels.
Tyco International Vice President and General Manager, Donal Sullivan said that the company’s past experience and familiarity in Ireland also played a part in the country beating off global competition to become the firm’s new headquarters.
“For Tyco, it’s the stability and the business-friendly environment that they’ve encountered here that’s the most attractive. The fact that we’re going to have a sizeable organisation here and can get the talent the company wants, it made sense to co-locate the Global Head Quarters and Global Business Centre. Tyco as an organisation has a very long, very successful experience in Ireland and that weighed heavily. This was an opportunity to do something transformative in the city. Tyco is becoming more and more of a technology and innovation company and as we do that we’ll be looking for lots of software developers and R&D people.” (Irish Examiner Ltd, 21 November 2014)
