Teeing off with Morgan McKinley!

There were prayers for birdies as the sun finally came out for the Shannon Chamber golf classic last week. The annual event, proudly sponsored by Morgan McKinley, was a sell-out with 168 golfers, representing 42 teams, teeing off to compete for the coveted trophy.

Return flights to Birmingham were also up for grabs as Aer Lingus Regional were celebrating their new six-times weekly service which commenced on the same day. Many of the businesses based in the Mid-West were represented, all keen to engage in a bit of friendly rivalry with one another.

While there was friendly banter on the course, competition remained stiff throughout the tournament. David McGarry from Shannon Group wowed the crowd at the 4th with a hole in one, receiving a bottle of brandy for his coup. The golfers were reenergised on the 12th with some well needed sustenance from the Park Inn by the Radisson Shannon Airport. The Park Inn held a raffle in aid of Milford Hospice and over €700 was raised.

It was a close call but Zagg International were victorious with an impressive winning score of 95 points (B9).  Ei Electronics were a close second with 95 points and Metis Life third, with 94 points. Ken Morrissey, who was playing with the Morgan McKinley team, won a voucher for Gallagher’s Restaurant for the longest drive! However no one left empty handed as there were spot prizes, a raffle and goodie bags to be had. A fantastic event, I think it is safe to say it will be sold out next year!
