Supply Chain Advisory Group Meeting - Smurfit

Darragh McCarthy 16.03.2017

It was a great privilege to be able to speak at the Supply Chain Advisory quarterly meeting last Friday in Smurfit.

The quarterly meeting was chaired by Lorcan Sheehan & arranged by Lorraine Hagerty (PerformaSC), and the theme was based around available talent in the Supply Chain market.

There were a number of excellent speakers at the event, including the ever enthusiastic Donna Marshall who along with her colleague Enrico & student Tim, gave us an insight into the ever growing and successes of the MSc in Supply Chain Management in Smurfit. Supply Chain/Procurement Director, Donal Prior & Sarah Bowers, Early Development Manager also gave us a great insight to the innovative recruitment process at Diageo.

My presentation was focused on the Morgan McKinley’s 2017 Salary Guide and market trends, I shared with the group our findings from this year’s survey and the current market trend in the Supply Chain market; One of the standout figures that got the room in a positive mood and opened an open forum discussion was the growth in the industry from last year, we recorded a growth of 13% in all jobs in from last year in the Supply Chain team, also we have seen salaries rise from between 5-10% across all divisions.

The above figures did get the whole room engaging and the discussion was then turned to how we can ensure that our industry continues to grow and develop, we agreed that Ireland can attract the talent and the talent is available but all agreed that one issue is infrastructure, can we ensure that we have the infrastructure to make the most of these opportunities going forward?

To view all our available jobs in this growing market or to get market information, please contact the national supply chain team and see all our open positions.
