Earlier on this year , Morgan McKinley hosted two breakfast briefings on Competing on a World Stage, in both Dublin & Cork City.
We drafted in the help of former Ireland international rugby player Gordon D'Arcy & David Phelan who has competed for Ireland in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, who shared their sporting journeys with us and discussed some parallels between competing in the world of international sport & international business.
Gordon shared his own personal journey from sports into the professional working environment and the lessons learned along the way. He shared a personal insight into best practices for mental resilience in sport (the how and why), and the benefits and parallels that can be drawn in business.
Gordon showed tremendous humility in his presentation at the breakfast briefings and was very openingly engaged with audiences to showcase his experience both as a sporting legend and working professional.
David’s presentation showcased the dedication, discipline and high levels of resilience needed to compete on a world stage. As Practice Leader for Life Sciences at Accreate Executive Search, finding the balance has been a skill that David has mastered as he has juggled a intensive dedication to both combat sports & to his professional career.
Based off of feedback we received, the audience, as was I, came away feeling a deep sense of respect and admiration for the years of training and dedication that both men have given in their sporting careers .
Next month the Performance Series draws to an end with the final breakfast briefing entitled Leading from the Front. This will be an in depth assessment of leadership styles from both a corporate & wellness perspective.
We are very happy to announce that for this event, Ailis McSweeney; former Irish sprinter who holds the Irish 100m record since 2010, running 11.40s to break a record that had stood for 32 years, will be our guest speaker.
