Morgan McKinley, Accreate MBA’s and Q&A’s

There are times in one’s life when it hurts to be the odd one out. The only one with an undercut in a nightclub in the noughties, the last one to be picked by your “mates” for soccer or an underqualified recruiter in a room full of MBA’s.

Thankfully despite the lack of an MBA  I was made feel welcome when  Accreate’s Dylan Rainey (MBA) and I presented to The Eastern Chapter of the MBA Association last Thursday evening  in the Clayton Hotel ,Ballsbridge .The Chapter supports MBAs based in Dublin and Leinster, and has MBAs from all the Dublin schools & also from schools across Ireland and internationally.

This was a joint presentation between Morgan McKinley and Accreate and we spoke about building partnerships, current market trends, the benefits of partnering with a specialised recruiter and the benefits of engaging an executive search firm. In addition we covered the merits of selling oneself, the candidate selection funnel, your value proposition, knowing your audience, cvs & cover letters and LinkedIn.

Our presentation was followed by a very enjoyable Q&A session. The following proved topical amongst the razor sharp audience:

  • The most efficient way’s for those with MBA’s to target a career change.
  • The power of one’s network.
  • The best way to approach a company of choice directly.
  • The value of an MBA when approaching the jobs market.
  • How an MBA is perceived by hiring managers.
  • The value of emotional intelligence and the ability to lead people to an employer.

We are very grateful to John Kelly Chair of the Eastern Chapter for his invitation and we hope to do more with the MBA Association of Ireland over the coming months. For further information on the evening, on MBA’s or the senior market in Dublin please do not hesitate to contact me at Morgan McKinley or Dylan Rainey at Accreate for a confidential conversation.
