If you are a funds professional, you may have considered moving abroad for work, but have you thought about working life in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg?

The funds market is booming in Luxembourg. In fact, Luxembourg is the leading investment fund centre in Europe, coming behind the United States only on a global scale. It is also the largest investment funds global distribution centre, with funds offered in over 70 countries worldwide. There is a number of reasons for this which include the efficient legal and regulatory framework which exist in Luxembourg necessary for fund design, plus the wide range of service providers available in the region for the efficient sub-contraction of non core activities for fund promoters.

Because of this, there are an array of exciting job prospects on offer, with many global brands based there. It is growing for many businesses as a post-Brexit location and so this means plenty of exciting opportunities. The appealing tax rates also help! While the cost of living is comparatively high (as tends to be the case offshore), so too are the salaries and many people commute across the border from nearby France, Belgium and Germany to keep living costs to a minimum.

Life in Luxembourg is different to in Ireland, but not a million miles away at the same time. What you will find there is a large community of expats, and one which is very welcoming and accommodating to new arrivals. It is easy to settle in and make friends, with a variety of groups to keep you entertained and socialising - including a well established GAA club!
