Job Searching in June

Jill Collins 16.06.2017

When is the right time to make a move in your career? With summer finally here, it may be easier to put the job search on the back burner as you plan that barbecue or a week holiday in Spain (It is Ireland after all).

So is June the best time to be looking for a job? Well its fair to say there is really no right or wrong time - If recruitment closed down in the summer months, I'd be out of a job!!

While most people will assume January and September are the busiest months in recruitment, this is mainly because people commence their own searches around this time adopting the "Back to School" mentality rather than an increase in actual new roles in the market. The spike at that time of year is mainly driven following a slower month before (August/December).

Forbes wrote a great article on the "7 Reasons to Keep Up Your Job Search This Summer" - well worth a read!

This June has been one of the busiest over the last few years here on the Finance Desk in Morgan McKinley across a number of disciplines including Payroll, Financial Reporting, FP&A and Financial Services

So while your competition may be putting their job search on hold for the summer months assuming a slow down in hiring, now is the time to get out and meet with companies to secure your dream role.
