GDPR... the journey continues

GDPR... the journey continues

Sarah Owen 10.10.2017

As the deadline for GDPR moves closer more companies are starting to get their house in order by employing Data Protection Officers followed by a project team specialising in the fields of Data, Security, Compliance and PMO.

These project teams will be responsible for the delivery of the GDPR project and ensuring all internal stakeholders understand that adhering to this regulation is of paramount importance to the business.

No organisation wants to have to deal with fines of up to €20,000,000 or 4% of total annual global turnover (whichever is greater) or put their company reputation on the line. Complying with this regulation is not an option it’s a requirement. Unlike a directive, that forms a base line which countries apply in different ways, this regulation binds all and is not interchangeable. Come May 2018 companies will have to keep upskilling and ensuring their employees and the company procedures stay within the realms of this regulation.

Here in Morgan McKinley we have established and upskilled a team of consultants to support our clients with their current and future needs by identifying specific talent for their organisation.

We are seeing a steady flow of GDPR vacancies coming through from clients across all industry verticals. It is evident that it’s not a “one size fits all” situation with the requirements from each company varying considerably. The main factors driving the different requirements start with a) can they avail of current skillsets from with their organisation? b) do they require a permanent employee or a temporary contractor resource? c) how far along the GDPR journey they are.

Here’s a snapshot of just some of the GDPR roles are we currently working on:

DATA PROTECTION AND FOI OFFICER

INFORMATION SECURITY CONSULTANT

DATA PROTECTION OFFICER

SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST

PROJECT MANAGER

If you are starting a project in relation to Data Protection, Security and Compliance and require any resources or advice in relation to this, please feel free to get in touch.
