Exciting times in the Engineering Sector

Eleanor Collins 11.02.2019

Over 300 hundred Biopharma companies have a presence in Ireland including 24 out the 25 largest players in the world, as recently reported by the respected technology news website, Silicon Republic.

Ireland is the 7th largest exporter of medicinal and pharmaceutical products in the world, which in monetary terms is over €39 billion, in addition to directly employing over 30,000 people. The Irish Government has also committed to providing €8 billion in research funding to the sector, adding further credence to Ireland’s reputation as a hub for R&D.

In August 2016 the “Future Skills needs of the Biopharma Industry” report, anticipated that, over 8000 new jobs would be created in Ireland in this sector by 2020, it is now expected that the sector will exceed more than 9,000 new roles by this date.

Ireland has been unable to meet demand for people to fill roles in the Biopharma/tech, process engineering and automation areas, as the sector continues to flourish. The Brexit factor has seen companies evaluating their UK positions, and Ireland has been the location that many have considered.

Companies are spread throughout Ireland, not just the major centres, so whether a move to Ireland is something you are considering, there are locations and engineering jobs to suit all tastes and requirements.

We have seen enormous opportunities for contractors in Ireland, even those in permanent positions are now moving into the lucrative contracting environment. UK registered limited company contractors can be accommodated with no difficulty, alongside EU residents, who can also bring their families to Ireland.
