Siobhain Rushe 26.09.2016

Free guest speaker event hosted by Morgan McKinley's IT team.

Date: Thursday 6th October
Time: 18:30
Location: Morgan McKinley - Connaught House, No.1 Burlington Road, Dublin 4

Morgan McKinley are proudly hosting a unique family themed event next month with CoderDojo which is set to be one of our biggest to date.

CoderDojo is a worldwide movement of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. Anyone aged seven to seventeen can visit a Dojo where they can learn to code, build a website, create an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment.

On the night, there will be a CoderDojo workshop to kick things off, where some of the young members will be able to demonstrate some of their skills which they have learnt from the mentors. It’s a really rewarding team effort. We will also have beers and pizza on the night!

Speaking on the night we have the following:

Ross O’Neill is the Community Liaison Lead for the CoderDojo Foundation. He volunteers as a mentor and teacher of a CoderDojo class of up to 15-20 pupils ranging from ages of seven - seventeen years old at the SWICN within the Digital Hub in Dublin, Ireland as part of the CoderDojo movement. He teaches Scratch, HTML/CSS, JavaScript and Python. On the night, he plans to discuss CoderDojo in detail, explaining how this organisation has helped so many children around the world to fall in love with development and to discover their talents within this area.
