Today it's all about the ladies as we celebrate the 110th International Women's Day!
International Women's Day 'celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. Yet progress has slowed in many places across the world, so global action is needed to accelerate gender parity'. As this year's theme is based around #BeBoldForChange, I have decided to give you a snapshot of a woman’s stance in the workplace.
At present in the ever-changing world of work, 'only 50 per cent of working age women are represented in the labour force globally, compared to 76 per cent of men', as women are more likely to be 'bunched into a narrow range of occupation types which are lower paid', due to the stereotypes that remain embedded in Irish society.
Karen O'Flaherty, Chief Operations Officer at Morgan McKinley is keen to highlight several factors in the following article as to how we as a society should begin to tackle these issues.
Now that I have given you a little insight into my #BeBoldForChange, what's yours?
And remember 'think globally, act locally'.
