I’m always asked – how is the professional jobs market in Munster really doing? Well there's good news and bad news.
The goods news is that the market is continuing to improve. Employers are moving faster to make hiring decisions and there are more opportunities for professionals across the finance areas in industry.
Unfortunately the bad news is that the majority of job vacancies still seem to be from multinational companies, most of which prefer candidates with multinational experience. One of the challenges recruiters face is trying to work with employers to relax their requirements to include candidates who possibly don’t meet all the technical requirements but have the right aptitude and attitude to perform the role.
Areas where we continue to see finance job opportunities in Cork and Kerry are predominantly within the shared service centre sector supporting Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as ICT companies, U.S. multinational corporations and bio-technology and pharmaceutical companies. All good news if you are working in these environments at the moment and feel like you are ready for career change.
