The weeks leading to April can be very confusing for those who are faced with the decision to either stay on in Practice or make a move into either Industry, maybe another practice or financial services. If this is you, you’ve most likely been getting mails and calls from recruiters about all the various opportunities out there. They all want you but you don’t know if you want them.

In my 4 years working in recruiting Qualified Accountants in Ireland and London, my advice will always stay the same.

The market for newly qualified accountants in Cork is the busiest in it has been in years and there are some fantastic options available to you should you decide to leave. How to decide where you want your CV to go will be dependent on you asking yourself

  • What kind of job would I like to do?
  • What kind of Industry would I like to work in?
  • Should I stay in practice and progress to Managerial level?
  • What is most important to me in the next job?
  • What salary should I be asking for?
  • What about contract work?
  • What If I fail my FAE’s?

Meet an experienced recruiter who can give you solid advice to help you longer term in your career. Talk to your friends and ask them what they have done. Even if you decide to stay meet a recruiter who can provide you with market insights so you can make a more informed decision.
