Commentary on  Finance Treasury & Capital Markets Roles and Contract Rates in Ireland 2017

The contract and interim area of the financial services accounting sector has remained stable throughout 2016. Over the past number of years, temporary and fixed term contract hires became extremely common, as they were seen as a way of minimising headcount in a cost efficient way for organisations. In the past 12 months these contracts have remained popular with job seekers due to the competitive packages that organisations are offering, as well as the purpose and scope of the work involved. In addition, employees who are working in a fixed term contract position are receiving the same benefits as those in a permanent position.

The reason behind this continuation is that organisations are changing the purpose of their contracts. Companies are now looking for temp and fixed term contractors due specific projects, niche specialisations and certain systems orientated projects. As a result, candidates can still demand high salaries and premium rates.
