Automation Test Engineer

My client, a leading software development organization based in Cork, is recruiting for an Automation Software Test Engineer to join their in-house software testing team.

You will be responsible for testing my client's new generation of PC software applications and will have previously worked on a range of complex projects with team sizes ranging from small in-house development teams to large cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out software testing on Java/C++ object oriented applications and tools
• Act as an expert in your specific product area
• Provide support and direction to development and test engineers
• Demonstrate application of different testing types used within the Software Development Lifecycle
• Evaluate requirements from a test impact perspective
• Write project test cases ensuring sufficient clarity and detail to allow any other test engineer execute the test cases.
• Devise, conduct and analyse the results of software tests
• Raise and progress problem reports with development
• Ensure timely completion of all testing tasks in line with project timelines
• Create and implement automation tests
• Participate in Process Improvement Activities

Requirements:

• 3rd Level Qualification in IT related discipline
• Min 1-2 years Software Testing experience
• Successful track record with software test responsibilities
• ISEB Foundation and/or Practitioner Testing practices
• Knowledge of Test Tools: Mercury Test Director, Mercury Quality Center, Mercury Quick Test Professional
• Test scripting experience (VB, Perl, Python)
• Knowledge of networking, databases, setup & configuration of hardware devices
• Knowledge and experience with UML (Unified Modelling Language)
• Knowledge of Industrial Automation would be advantageous
