Edward Heffernan
Specialist area
I recruit for industry and practice roles, whether permanent, qualified, part-qualified or tax positions within the Dublin region.
My advice
"Seek good advice, independent of your peer group and get that advice early. If you see a future for yourself outside of practice, the longer you stay the more difficult it can be to move client side. Many ACAs I have worked with in the past have gone on to have very interesting and diverse careers not specifically within finance. For example people who have started their own companies or become managing directors within larger PLCs. The ACA qualification is much like a passport that allows you to start a journey that is not limited by the borders of accounting or finance but can, with the right planning, open up a wide range of opportunities across a spectrum of industries."
My background
I have been in the recruitment industry since 2001, both in Ireland and Japan, where I headed up the Accounting & Finance section for Morgan McKinley in Tokyo. I hold a BSc in Neuroscience as well as a diploma in personnel management and I am a qualified member of the CIPD.
